2016: A Year of Success

As we head into an exciting 2017 we can truly look back on 2016 with great pride as a huge success of a year. Our staging of Shout! the Mod Musical as our “big show” for 2016 was critically acclaimed and wowed audiences in November.

We were thrilled to have Garth Tavares back as Director, Musical Director and Choreographer. His wealth of talent brought in superb Set Design and Lighting Design as well to ensure a production of professional artistic standards.

Our five colourful performers – Blue Girl (Christine Thonissen), Orange Girl (Melissa Sanderson), Green Girl (Laura Bosman), Yellow Girl (Megan Spencer), and Red Girl (Enyha Swanepoel) – had only two months from first rehearsal to opening night to learn these demanding roles. Harmonies, choreography, lead singing, and characterisation were all challenging, but so thrilling when it all came together!

Our technical and backstage crew worked tirelessly for every performance and were aided by the friendly front-of-house team, talented artists who brought Garth’s set design to life, and the production team managing finances, marketing, and show details.

The Roxy Revue Bar proved to be an ideal venue for our production of Shout! The Mod Musical with its luxurious setting and excellent facilities. We will be happy to place ourselves at Grand West Casino for future productions and hope that our loyal audiences will get used to supporting Pinelands Players in this vibrant venue. The cast and crew can certainly advise on the best places to find an after-show drink, good dinner, or pre-show junk food!

Our thanks go out to all those who made this fantastic production the success that it was and all those who supported it. Here’s to a great 2017 filled with theatre!
