So, just an update, rehearsals are well truly underway. Harmonies are being practiced in the car, shower, work…anywhere our cast have a free time really.
But back before all of the movement and note bashing started we had a simple “getting to know you” evening. With 007 theme songs in the background, the new cast, crew and band mingled and learnt about one another by making pizza! (Don’t you love pizza, such a wonder-food bringing people together…..I’m sure it has antioxidants in it) This of course was paired with the drink of Bond himself, martinis!
Well now that rehearsals have started the pizza has been swapped for sheet music and instead of a martini……a prop gun (or just your hands in the mean time). The cast sounds amazing and I can not wait to see them live on stage.
The exciting Pinelands Players production for 2015 is Shaken, Not Stirred, a revue devised by the creative team of Kyla Thorburn, Justin Wardle and Mandy Cardin. Kyla and Justin will be managing the direction and musical direction respectively for this show-stopping production which sees the Society launching into a wonderful new venue: The New Space Theatre in vibrant Long Street in the city centre!
Shaken, Not Stirred will delight audiences with the espionage series greatest hits Goldfinger, Thunderball, and Diamonds are Forever. Think of Shirley Bassey, Madonna, Carly Simon and Adele. Reflect on the excitement, the thrills, the passion, and style that conjures up images of the greatest British spy.
To shake up your memory and stir up some emotions, the evenings will provide sparkling entertainment with top class singing, an 8 piece live band, fantastic visuals, and even, dare we say, some sensual dancing.
Come and join us on 30 November at the First Pinelands Scout Hall for and exciting event. We are going to cast, script, rehearse, costume, set-up, perform and strike a theatre performance in one day. Continue reading
